Are these mileage packages required by Chevrolet?
No. These are Bridgewater-recommended packages, not a universal Chevrolet factory schedule. A package may include additional preventive services. Your advisor will review your vehicle’s factory schedule, condition and service history before recommending work.
Does a 4WD Tahoe need different service?
It can. Four-wheel-drive (4WD) Tahoes have additional drivetrain service needs. Transfer case, front differential and rear differential services appear as four-wheel-drive lines in the 45,000-mile and 90,000-mile packages above, in both the gas and the diesel panels. The applicable fluids and intervals depend on the model year and operating conditions. Ask your advisor which 4WD services apply to your Tahoe and whether they are included in your package estimate.
How is a diesel Tahoe serviced differently?
The 3.0L Duramax diesel Tahoe (2021 and newer) takes 7 quarts of dexosD 0W-20 rather than the gas-engine oil, and its service includes a check and top-off of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), which the emissions system draws from its own tank and which must never be added to the fuel. Chevrolet’s maintenance schedule calls for a new fuel filter every 30,000 miles, or every two years, or when the CHANGE FUEL FILTER message displays in the Driver Information Center, whichever comes first; the diesel packages above include the diesel fuel system service in the 30,000-, 60,000- and 90,000-mile packages, the same 30,000-mile cadence, and your advisor will confirm when it is due for your Tahoe. Diesel engines have no spark plugs, and GM’s maintenance schedule has no glow-plug replacement interval; glow plugs are replaced only if they fail.
