The 5.3L and 6.2L V8s (2014 and later) take 8 quarts of dexos1 0W-20 at $99.95 plus tax; 2007–2013 trucks take 5W-30 in the quantities listed above (dexos1 from 2011); the 2011–2019 HD 6.0L, the 6.6L gas engine and both Duramax diesels have their own rows. Your advisor will verify the engine and the estimate for your model year and drivetrain before work begins.
Are these mileage packages required by Chevrolet?
No. These are Bridgewater-recommended packages, not a universal Chevrolet factory schedule. A package may include additional preventive services. Your advisor will review your vehicle’s factory schedule, condition and service history before recommending work.
Does a 4WD Silverado need different service?
It can. Four-wheel-drive (4WD) Silverados have additional drivetrain service needs. Transfer case, front differential and rear differential services appear as four-wheel-drive lines in the 45,000-mile and 90,000-mile packages of every engine panel above. The applicable fluids and intervals depend on the model year and operating conditions. Ask your advisor which 4WD services apply to your truck and whether they are included in your package estimate.
How often is the Silverado Duramax fuel filter replaced, and what is DEF?
Chevrolet’s maintenance schedule for the 3.0L Duramax (2020 and later) calls for a new fuel filter every 30,000 miles, or every two years, or when the CHANGE FUEL FILTER message displays in the Driver Information Center, whichever comes first. For the 6.6L Duramax, 2017 and later trucks replace the fuel filter every 22,500 miles, or every two years, or when the CHANGE FUEL FILTER message displays; 2011–2016 trucks replace it when the message displays, or once 22,500 miles have passed since the last filter, and at least every two years. The 3.0L Duramax packages above include the diesel fuel system service in the 30,000-, 60,000- and 90,000-mile packages, and the 6.6L Duramax packages include it in the 20,000–22,500-, 45,000-, 60,000- and 90,000-mile packages, so neither set runs past GM's interval; your advisor confirms when the filter is due for your truck. Diesel engines have no spark plugs, and GM’s maintenance schedule has no glow-plug replacement interval; glow plugs are replaced only if they fail. Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is stored in its own tank, must be kept topped up for the truck to run properly and must never be added to the fuel; the Duramax oil services include a DEF check and top-off.
Which Silverado engine panel applies to my truck?
Your model (1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD) and engine identify it: the 2.7L Turbo, 4.3L V6 and the 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L V8 gas engines are in the first panel, the 3.0L Duramax diesel in the second, the 6.6L gas engine (2020 and later) in the third and the 6.6L Duramax diesel in the fourth. 2500 HD and 3500 HD trucks with the 6.0L V8 (through 2019) use the 6.0L row in the first panel.
